Tiles: the creative possibilities are endless.
Not
only can you use Vintage Mural's tiles for wall murals and to make tile floors, but you can
also use them as special touches in rooms--either as accent tiles or borders. You can also use them in kitchens
as backsplashes behind your sink or stove, or as countertops. You can also buy individual tiles as accent tiles for your countertop or backsplash.
Where can I put a tile mural?
They are perfect
for the kitchen, children's room, living room, bedroom, foyer, recreation
area, bathroom, patio, etc., such as behind sinks, above bathtubs, on floors, walls,
countertops, fireplace facades and more. And Vintage Mural also makes inlaid custom tile murals for coffee tables, too! Let Vintage Mural completely redefine and beautify your home décor.
What art can I choose for my mural?
Any image on this site is available for you to purchase on a glass, ceramic or tumbled marble tile mural.
What tile types and sizes are available?
We offer ceramic, glass and tumbled marble tile. Ceramic and glass come in 4.25", 6", 8" and 12" square. Tumbled marble comes in 4.00", 6", 8" and 12" square. 6" tile is the most popular and oft-used. For very large spaces, 12" tile works very well.
Must I use grout?
Grout is really about personal taste. No, you don't have to. Some people enjoy the look of grout, others do not. The tiles will bank together firmly and you can use special tile glue to adhere them, you do not need grout. Glass traditionally works best without grout.
I am not sure what I want, but I know I want a mural. Can you help me?
Absolutely. Contact us and we will assist you in choosing an image for your mural, taking all factors into consideration: taste, decor, location, etc.
I need a size that is not listed on your chart.
No problem. Just contact us and we will price your mural for you via email or telephone. Tel: 802.287.9098, 11am-6pm, 7 days a week, Eastern time.
What about different sizes and proportions? Can you make any image fit my space?
Yes. We are especially adept at making any image fit any space. For the most part, with few exceptions, we can crop and size any image to fit any space. For example, let's say you have a rectangle space on your wall but chose a piece of art that is square. We can and will make it work for you, sizing and cropping the image to its best advantage. We are artists, we will maximize your space and work with the image to make it look beautiful. In other words, you will not be "held hostage" to the art proportions.
Can you alter color for me?
Yes. We can recolorize an image to your tastes, decor and specifications. We can customize your piece in many different exciting ways. For example, some of our customers have had us put special text/type treatment on their murals; others have had us create a custom collage from multiple vintage images. Contact us for a quote and tell us what you envision.
Can I get a sample tile before I buy?
Yes. If
you are considering a tile mural, many
of our customers order a test tile (the image on one
6" x 6" tile or 12" x 12" tile) so they can really envision what
it will look like as a large mural. This way, you can actually see
the quality and texture of the tile, as well as the color
and vibrance of the art, enabling you to better visualize
it as a full sized wall mural, backsplash or floor.
About Glass and Ceramic Floors.
Both our 12" textured glass and scratch-resistant ceramic tiles are especially made for use on floors. Our tiles also make lovely decor accents as tile borders in bathrooms, countertops, backsplashes, kitchens, living rooms, children's rooms, bedrooms, dens, in front of doorways (on the floor) or on top of them....anywhere you want a beautiful and unusual touch of vintage beauty.
Match your mural art with the same image on switchplates and other decor accents.
One of the many unique things about Vintage Mural is that customers can actually match their mural art with other home décor accents. For example, a good portion of our mural customers have us make switchplates with the very same design as their mural for a fabulous, professional designer look. Other options are matching shelf units, matching decorative plates, matching dinner placemats and more. Any interior designer knows that a small design element like a matching light switchplate on a wall near your tile mural or a matching glass cutting board in the kitchen can bring a whole room together in a stunning way.
About Tumbled Marble-What You Need to Know.
Our tumbled stone tile is actually tumbled marble, a tile made exclusively for us by the finest tile craftspeople in Italy. The very nature of tumbled stone is imperfection. It's real stone, from the earth, and, as such, it's flawed, beautifully flawed by Mother Nature herself. These flaws are what makes them so beautiful. They have cracks, hairlines, bumps, jaggy edges, and the outer rims are never even. If you do not enjoy a rustic, imperfect look, do not get tumbled stone. As such, we do not replace naturally flawed tumbled stone. Broken in half? Sure . But chips, lines, jagged edges are part of the stone and we will not replace tiles that are naturally flawed.
About Color--What You Need To Know.
When you are looking at a piece of art or a photo on your monitor, it is a given that no two people will see *exactly* the same image as far as the color's subtle tones and hues. That is because different computer monitors resolve color differently. Printing from a scan also creates subtle changes in color. Due to all the variations in color management, we use highly sophisticated color calibration equipment with our printers so we can ensure that what appears on our screen is faithfully printed. However, what we see on our monitors may be a bit different than what you see on yours. When you add different printing surfaces to the mix, i.e., ceramic versus stone, assorted surfaces that may receive ink differently, the only way to know exactly how the color is going to print is by ordering a test tile. Therefore, if you are very particular about color, we strongly urge you to order a test tile (the image on one small 6 x 6 tile) so you can definitively envision what the image will look like as a large mural. This way, you can actually see the quality and texture of the tile, as well as the color and vibrance of the art, enabling you to better visualize it as a full sized wall mural, backsplash or floor. If you do not order a test tile, we cannot guarantee that the color will print exactly as you envisioned.

How do you make the tiles?
These tiles are made with a special process that uses heat and pressure. The images will not wash off, as the special inks become part of the tile--not on top of it---in the heat pressing process. The ink turns from a solid into a vapor and then into a solid again. The tiles will last many lifetimes and provide years of enjoyment.
How will my tiles arrive?
Your
tiles will arrive with numbers on the back so you will know exactly
where to place each tile in the mural. For example, the first tile
will be marked A1, the second A2, et al. Your order will also include a
paper grid for easy matching.
Shipping.
Please allow 4 weeks for delivery. More often than not, you will receive your mural in approximately two weeks. We ship via UPS, and each mural is carefully and lovingly packaged from us in Vermont to you--wherever you live.
Installation.
We do not install, but we do recommend that, if you're doing it yourself, you purchase sandless grout--easily available at places like Home Depot. We are happy to answer questions, so contact us.
